![]() ![]() It’s important to know some of my biggest fears. Honestly, I’ll probably chase anything that runs, if given the chance! I also do well around children but none under the age of six in the home please. ![]() I've heard talk about cats, but I don’t know what that is so I’m not sure if I will be their friend or chase them. I really think I would like a fur -real brother or sister one day that can keep up with my all-day playing sessions. Occasionally, foster Dad takes foster brother to work with him and I'm kind of bored. We tree squirrels and opossum's, play tug-of-war and keep-away, wrestle with each other, chase each other around aimlessly, and sometimes, we even sleep together! These things make me very happy and is probably my favor time of the day. I have a 5-year-old GSP foster brother that I love to run and play with. I even escaped from a locked crate once! Basically, I’m doing really good with everything and I’m very smart. Although, I do respond well to the vibrate of a training collar. If something outside the fence catches my attention (like a squirrel) and I decide I want to play with it, I will try all my tricks to get over, under, or squeeze through a fence. I've been working on basic commands, but still have a ways to go. I do ok on a leash and I'm getting better every day. I'm also house-broken to a doggie door, but I may have an accident if I must wait too long to go out, but I’m improving. I'm crate trained but I expect plenty of toys and treats when the door closes. I have greatly improved on my manners, and they just get better every day. I still have the GSP puppy spirit and energy, and I intend to use it! ![]() I am extra affectionate, and I consider your lap, my lap, and your personal space, my personal space. I absolutely LOVE giving (and getting) hugs and kisses. You will never be lonely again with me around. I am a super sweet boy with tons of love to give. But don’t you worry because this is where my life makes a big turnaround ! I was lucky enough for a very nice person to contact the SEGSP Rescue with my situation, and they immediately arranged for me to be transported to NC where I finally got the vet care that I so badly needed ! My foster Mom saw my story and picked ME to be her very first foster! The authorities then took me to a local shelter there, where a bigger dog was mean to me and beat me up pretty good. At that point, I had never seen a vet, not even to have my tail docked. I originally came from upper east Tennessee, where authorities took me away from a very bad situation, which included sever neglect. ![]() I’m on the journey to find my fur - ever family and you just might be it ! Let me tell you a little bit abou t myself ! If you are interested in adopting a Cavalier, visit the Trust's website or submit an all! My name is Smokey, and I am approximately 2 years old. The Trust website also has a list of Cavaliers that are available for adoption (please expect a lengthy wait right now), and opportunities to donate or purchase wonderful rescue-themed items in the online store, with proceeds going to help support the efforts of the Rescue Trust. Please consider volunteering! to fill out the volunteer application. Visit their website athttps: They are always in need of volunteers. The Trust is a dynamic and caring full-service, all volunteer, non-profit rescue group. Other contacts for general rescue inquiries can also be directed to the national ACKCSC Rescue Trust. Rescues are wonderful but often need medical and/or behavioral help. PLEASE realize that if you choose to pursue a Rescue, you will NOT typically be in line for a young, healthy, uncomplicated dog. If you live in the Greater Houston area and know of a Cavalier in need of being rescued or rehomed for any reason, please contact Julie Fitzpatrick at or phone her at 83. Of course, there are the obvious cases where rescue is required to protect the dog, but many times it's a case of the owner no longer being able to care for the dog for health reasons or just lack of time. Our club believes that we, as Cavalier lovers, should do everything we possibly can to help any Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in need of rescue or re-homing. ![]()
